Two-tiered compensation @ Microsoft
Tags: •  •

This post on minimsft.blogspot.com points out the two-tiered compensation scheme @ Microsoft.

If minimsft's blog is accurate, Microsoft has become a place where a select few collect what can only be described as incredibly generous compensation, despite what some perceive as poor performance (and certainly, the market is hammering MSFT stock), while the rest of the company labors for average or just-above-average compensation.

The crowd is turning ugly, because Microsoft's stock has been flat or worse for about five years, and stock options are underwater so they don't contribute to the average employee's salary.

There have been a number of departures lately, and it seems that things may get worse soon.

This comment describes the sinking feeling of a conscientious person having second thoughts about moving up the ladder.

"Most of the Partners that I know are well beyond the line that I draw in the sand when it comes to ethics, and unfortunately, some of them used to be pretty damn good people, even some formerly close friends. The articles that Mini point out are right on target when they talk about creating a new class of employee. It is indeed a sad day."

For a real hoot, read this comment from a supposed VP. Most likely a troll, but if not... tsk.

Anyway, Mini-Microsoft's blog is worth a watch, even at this late hour.
